Flipboard Now Available For BlackBerry Z10 In BlackBerry World

Not to long ago many of you may have seen the Flipboard app appear in BlackBerry World for the BlackBerry Z10, and then just as quick as it appeared it was gone. Well here’s some great news, it is now available for download on the BlackBerry Z10.
Flipboard brings together world news and social news in a beautiful magazine designed for your BlackBerry. Once you pick a few topics, your Flipboard is built and you can instantly start flipping through the pages of news you care about and stories and photos friends are sharing.
Flip through the news from your Twitter timeline as well as from outlets like the Financial Times, USA Today and The Verge. See everything from posts and photos shared by friends on Facebook and Instagram to videos from YouTube and pop culture nuggets from Rolling Stone. Find inspiration for your travel, style and life from places like National Geographic, Etsy and Cool Hunting.

Once you do be sure to hit up the comments below and share your thoughts about the app. Hopefully it will be coming soon to the BlackBerry Q5 and Q10 as well because I’m ready to load it on my device.

Pebble owners can finally pair up to their BlackBerry 10 devices with their Pebble smartwatch. The pBBl app is now available as a free download from BlackBerry World, and while it's not the app we saw shown off during BlackBerry Live (this one's from a different developer) it does give BlackBerry owners some basic Pebble notifications and is welcome with open arms.

To use the app just pair your Pebble via Bluetooth with your BlackBerry Z10, Q10 or Q5 then open the app and connect. You'll see a few quick settings for alerts from SMS, phone calls and emails and you can toggle them on or off as you see fit. Just leave the app open in an Active Frame and it will drop your notifications to your Pebble as they arrive. There are a few catches for now in that pBBl can't send BBM notifications or the names of callers and you can't control music, but it's a great start.

The ultimate to-do list. Remember The Milk is known for being just that and it has now arrived on the BlackBerry 10 platform. For free accounts, syncing of tasks and notes only occurs once every 24 hours but there is a pro account to choose from that offers plenty more, should you find you need it. If you're worried about it being an Android port, don't be. Remember The Milk runs beautifully on BlackBerry 10 and through my initial testing, everything synced up nicely. I know there is plenty of folks out there who've been waiting for this app to arrive. Remember The Milk is available in all countries and is listed as being compatible for both the BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry Q10.

BlackBerry Making Same Profit Off One Z10 as Nokia Does Three Lumias

Many analysts and industry professionals claim that Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 will overtake BlackBerry. While that might be true of BlackBerry 7, it's hardly the case against BlackBerry 10.

Earnings from Windows Phone 8 top vendor, Nokia, may prove the point. Elephant Analytics on Seeking Alpha has compared the gross margin of the Nokia Lumias from their recent Q1 earnings report.

From their analysis, Nokia barely makes any money from hardware sales. BlackBerry Z10′s gross margin is much higher than that of the Nokia Lumia. Apparently, one BlackBerry Z10 reaps the same amount of profit as three Nokia Lumias.

Though, it doesn’t only appear to be such a gain on solely BlackBerry 10 sales. Elephant Analytics claims BlackBerry “still makes 20% more per legacy BlackBerry 7 device than Nokia does for their new Windows Phone 8 Lumias. While Nokia may have needed to clear out inventory by selling their Windows Phone 7 Lumias at cost, BlackBerry is still able to get significant value from BlackBerry 7 customers due to service revenues.”

Transfer Your Information From iPhone Or Android To BlackBerry Z10

BlackBerry has published some documentation in a step-by-step tutorial showing you how to make the transfer to the BlackBerry Z10 device very easy.
Switching from an iPhone to a BlackBerry Z10 

Transferring your information from your iPhone to your new BlackBerry ®10 device is simple and straightforward. Just follow the instructions below.
Transferring Music
Get your music on your new BlackBerry Z10:
1. Sync your iPhone with iTunes on your computer.
2. Download BlackBerry Link and connect your BlackBerry Z10 to your computer with a USB cable.
Ensure you select iTunes as your BlackBerry Link music source.
3. Open BlackBerry Link, navigate to the Music content view, and then drag and drop music from the
Desktop tab to the BlackBerry tab while your BlackBerry Z10 is connected.

Transferring Pictures and Videos
Get your photos and videos on your new BlackBerry Z10:
1. Transfer photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer.
2. Download BlackBerry Link and connect your BlackBerry Z10 to your computer with a USB cable.
Ensure you select iTunes as your BlackBerry Link content source.
3. Open BlackBerry Link and click on the Desktop tab:
• For Windows, navigate to your Pictures and Videos content views and add the folders that store
your imported content.
• For Mac users, BlackBerry Link sources the library content from your iTunes and iPhoto
applications. Ensure your imported content is included in your iPhoto and iTunes libraries.
4. From your Desktop tab, navigate to your Pictures and Videos content view. Drag and drop the
imported content to your BlackBerry tab while your BlackBerry Z10 is connected

Setting Up Email, Calendar, and Contacts
1. On your new BlackBerry 10 device, go to Settings, and click on Accounts.
2. Click Add Account, and enter your email address and password.
3. Your email, calendar, and contact from this account will now start to transfer to your BlackBerry Z10.
** For calendar items and contacts that are stored in your iPhone memory, search for how to synchronize
them with an email account, such as Windows Live™ Hotmail®, Gmail®, or Yahoo!®. When they’ve
synchronized with your email account, add that email account to your BlackBerry Z10 and everything will
be transferred.

Switching from an Android Device (Galaxy, Droid, Nexus, etc.) to a BlackBerry Z10

Transferring information from your Android device to your new BlackBerry® Z10 is simple and straightforward. Just follow the instructions below.
Transferring Files

There are two options for transferring the files on your Android device to your new BlackBerry® 10 smartphone.
Option 1: Drag & Drop
For Windows® Users
You can drag and drop files from your Android device to your BlackBerry Z10:
1. Connect both your Android device and your BlackBerry Z10 to your PC.
2. Open Windows®
Explorer by clicking Start > Accessories > Windows Explorer
3. Drag and drop files between the two devices.
For Mac Users
You can drag and drop from your Android device to your BlackBerry Z10:
1. Connect your BlackBerry Z10 to your Mac.
2. Download BlackBerry Link when prompted. If you’re not prompted, download it from
www.blackberry.com/blackberrylink.
3. When BlackBerry Link is installed, you should see two new icons on your desktop: Media and
Removable_SDCARD.
4. Click on your Android device and drag and drop files into the Media and Removable_SDCARD folders
on your desktop.
** If you don’t see these folders, open Finder. Your BlackBerry 10 device will appear as IP address
169.254.X.X. Drag files from your Android device to the folders in IP address 169.254.X.X (which is what
your BlackBerry Z10 is called in Finder).
Transferring Media Card Files (Music, Pictures, and Videos)
You may be able to transfer files stored on a microSD card (media card) in your Android device to your
new BlackBerry Z10. Simply take it out of your phone and insert it into your BlackBerry Z10.
If you’re prompted to reformat your media card, first make sure to save the files on your media card to your
computer. Here’s how you do it:
1. Insert your media card into your Android device.
2. Save the items from your media card onto your computer by using iTunes, Windows Media Player,
Windows Explorer, or Finder on Mac.
3. Insert your media card into your BlackBerry Z10 and if prompted, reformat the media card.
4. If the media card had to be reformatted, download BlackBerry Link and connect your BlackBerry Z10
to your computer using a USB cable.
5. Open BlackBerry Link, add the media and documents that you had copied over to your computer from
your Android device, and then drag and drop content from the Desktop tab to the BlackBerry tab while
your BlackBerry Z10 is connected.

BlackBerry Z10 already responsible for 5.3% of all North American BlackBerry traffic

After a product launches, the one thing everyone wants to know is how many people are using it. With the Z10, it's pretty much the same thing. Today, online ad networker Chikita's research division has published some interesting numbers that could indicate a good acceptance of BlackBerry 10 in North America.

According to Chikita Insights, the BlackBerry Z10 is responsible for 5.3% of all North American BlackBerry traffic. The chart above shows the dates of the AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon launches and how after each launch, the percentage of web traffic from the Z10 has gone up.

Now, this may sound like a low percentage, but when you compare these numbers to the iPhone 5's within the same time frame after its launch, it can be considered a pretty good sign for the Z10.

The iPhone 5 shattered sales records, according to many, but it had only reached 12% of Apple's mobile traffic in the same period of time as this Z10 sample.

Even more encouraging is the fact that many speculate, and reasonably so, that the average customer is more likely to adopt the Q10 instead of the Z10, and that with that possibility, BlackBerry's biggest sales push is still yet to come. The QWERTY keyboard addicts that simply do not want to let their physical keys go may give BlackBerry Q10 the biggest bump in web traffic. Like with the Z10, only time will tell.
